At Texprocess 2022, which took place again after a two-year break from Corona, the topic of “sustainability” was on everyone’s lips. Numerous exhibitors provided insights into their sustainability approaches – especially in the field of processing textile and flexible materials, there are exciting new solutions. At the two-day lecture forum @texprocess, DTB – Dialog Textil-Bekleidung. e.V. offered a thematically interesting accompanying programme for all trade fair visitors.
Around 40 high-ranking speakers provided a wide range of input on the topics of quality management of the future, digitalisation, digital product development, supply chain management and how all of this pays into the focus topic of “sustainability”.
Already in the introduction to the exciting keynote by Dr. Richard Federowski | Partner, Roland Berger GmbH, Christopher Veit | Managing Director Veit GmbH set new impulses and introduced the motto for the two days of the lecture forum:
In a volatile, uncertain, complex and multi-layered (working) world, it is more important than ever to be courageous. {…} The cohesion within the DTB strengthens the member companies. Dialogue is the spirit and only together can and will we solve the problems and survive these times.
Christopher Veit | Managing Director Veit GmbH and Board Member DTB
The open communication within the DTB promotes understanding among each other. This becomes especially important against the backdrop of the current dramatically rapid change: each individual is called upon to (re)define their (corporate) purpose, to act in an agile manner and to allow for more responsibility.
In terms of content, Dr. Richard Federowski | Partner, Roland Berger echoed this call with his keynote. In addition to the current topics of war, inflation and the threat of recession, there will be further legal and fiscal influences in the future that will have an enormous impact on the textile and clothing industry – keyword: European Green Deal. Really everything is currently unpredictable and put to the test. Everyone has to analyse and observe exactly what will and can happen – and what conclusions they will draw from it. This leads to four main conclusions for the industry:
Be more fast, invest in digitisation, ship less and be more on point!
Dr. Richard Federowski | Partner, Roland Berger GmbH
The other lectures at the DTB Forum 2022 were dedicated to the questions: What is new along the fashion supply chain and in the area of sourcing? Which latest tools help in product development? Where can digitalisation provide support and in which specific areas will it make processes easier? What solutions are there to become more sustainable overall and to improve the circular economy?
At the end of the 14-hour lecture programme, it was clear that companies have already found diverse solutions for diverse topics: In a time of rapid change, the key is often found in digitalisation, transparency and collaborative working. Digital solutions across all stages of the supply chain help through standardisation. They also simplify and accelerate the workload along the supply chain: 3D product development and avatars, cutting libraries, digital colour management, quality assurance, digital PLM systems, cradle-to-cradle concepts and much more.
The exciting insights from the practical work of the speakers were supplemented with presentations on legal basics, chemicals management, recycling and an overview of new materials and their possibilities. Through the transparent development of new standards, risks can be recognised more quickly and better covered in the future.
More than 1700 listeners attended the forum over two days and, in addition to the lectures, also made intensive use of the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss new impulses in the large DTB network. We would like to thank all the speakers for their exciting insights and gripping presentations, as well as all the visitors for their great interest.
All lectures of the Forum will be available for downloading as video-on-demand on the Texprocess 2022 website only for visitors to the trade fair (in their personal trade fair account) up to and including 8 July 2022: https://texprocess.digital.messefrankfurt.com/program/?day=2022-06-21
