Quality
Guaranteeing success and competitiveness in the industry
Quality management in the textile and fashion industry is a major challenge due to the complexity of the textile value chain and the large number of companies involved in the process of manufacturing end products. Morever, the quality concept in the textile and fashion industry differs from other sectors‘ concepts of quality. Accordingly, the main focus lies on functionality, performance characteristics, and most importantly, aesthtetic criteria. During the implementation of the specific requirements, it is therefore crucial to take into account subjective and non-measurable criteria [Bartam 1992]. Thus, the textile and fashion industry’s concept of quality is heavily characterized by subjectivity.
Since its foundation, the DTB has been facing these challenges and has continually devoted its work to analyze both legal and customer requirements, because there is a frequent discrepancy between the quality the customer perceives and the quality the producer intended.
