Getzner Textil invests in plant expansion

Publication of the Getzner Textil press release dated 26 April 2023

With an area of 4,320 m² and a total investment of 27 million euros, Getzner Textil is expanding its premises at the Bludenz site. During the planned two-year construction period, a production hall for the finishing area will be built. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for this summer.

The extension will be seamlessly attached to the east side of the existing operations building. After completion, the new production area will be used as a so-called finishing hall: Here, fabrics will be finished that will later find their place in the displays as non-iron shirts, for example. Roland Comploj, CEO and Chairman of the Board, speaks of a commitment to the Bludenz location: “As a family business with regional roots, it is important to us to retain and expand our know-how at the Bludenz location. The new hall ensures the basis for further moderate growth and technological progress.” The reasons for the current expansion are, in addition to increasing customer demand, primarily the optimisation of internal processes to increase efficiency.

Sustainable investment

In the course of the plant expansion, existing production facilities will be replaced by the latest production technology – three million euros of the total investment sum have been earmarked for this. The modernisation of the plants enables a more sustainable and resource-saving production. The topic of sustainability is also taken into account in the building concept: “The roof of the new production hall will be greened. In addition, biodiversity-promoting planting will be installed along Gerberstraße as part of the green space concept. A corresponding infiltration trough was also taken into account – the rainwater that accumulates in the area of the new company premises can infiltrate on the same property,” explains Martin Zech, Head of Technical Services and Construction Manager at Getzner Textil, and continues: “In the awarding process, we also make sure to give priority to regional construction companies.

Special construction measures

In order to air-condition the new and two existing production halls in the future, a new cooling water well will also be tapped as part of the plant expansion. These are a withdrawal well and a return well. The construction measures are costly due to the deep boreholes required – but once completed, it will be one of the most sustainable cooling systems.

Successful through far-sighted decisions

The Getzner Textil Group plans to invest almost 50 million euros this year, with the largest project in the coming years being the 27 million euro expansion of the Bludenz site. In addition, investments are planned in the area of photovoltaics. After the extension, the headquarters of Getzner Textil AG cover an area of around 46,000 m². As one of the largest textile companies in Central Europe with an annual turnover of 440 million euros, Getzner Textil currently employs around 1,600 people.
