21st Annual Conference of the German Council for Sustainable Development

Last weekend, DTB Managing Director Susanne Pass was at the kick-off event “Tackling Transformation, Creating the Future. Sustainability as a community effort.” The kick-off was promising, there are great ideas and much to do! #communitywork sustainability

Less than 8 years remain until 2030. At the halfway point of the 2030 Agenda, the global community is facing perhaps the greatest challenges since its inception, given the current global political situation. We will only achieve the 17 global sustainability goals if they are actively supported politically and by society as a whole, and if everyone makes their contribution. It is important that the many work together and that jointly supported solutions for the upcoming transformation are implemented in many places and at all levels at the same time.

The Gemeinschaftswerk Nachhaltigkeit, initiated by the federal and state governments and coordinated by the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), aims to bundle social forces on one platform, make commitment visible and create unusual alliances. The 21st RNE Annual Conference marked the start of this joint project. The main topic in the first year of Gemeinschaftswerk will be sustainable building and living.
