The sourcing trip to Morocco, organized by the DTB, took place from October 13 to 16, 2025. The goal of the trip was to provide participating member companies with a comprehensive insight into the Moroccan textile industry, to tap into new sourcing channels, and to establish direct contacts with potential partners.<\/p>\n
The trip took participants from Casablanca to Tangier and offered a varied mix of company visits, discussions with industry representatives, and insights into the Moroccan manufacturing landscape.<\/p>\n

Casablanca \u2013 An Industrial Hub Combining Tradition and Dynamism<\/p>\n
Commando 75<\/strong><\/p>\n The trip kicked off with a visit to Commando 75, a company specializing in military apparel. In addition to the factory tour, the prospect of a follow-up meeting with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry was raised to discuss further opportunities for cooperation. The company operates internationally and is represented at the A+A trade show in D\u00fcsseldorf, among other events.<\/p>\n Filmod<\/strong><\/p>\n Another visit was made to the company Filmod.<\/p>\n Filmod produces exclusively women\u2019s wear.<\/p>\n The company supplies renowned brands such as Marc Cain, Bash, Paco Rabanne, Massimo Dutti, and, in the past, the Inditex Group (including Zara). Following the pandemic, the company made a strategic shift from French to British clients. San Style<\/strong><\/p>\n San Style primarily produces men\u2019s ready-to-wear clothing and suits. Its main client is currently Greiff. Production is characterized by precision and stable supply chains. The company expressed great interest in further networking with European partners, particularly those from German-speaking countries.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Tangier \u2013 Focus on Sustainability and the Circular Economy<\/p>\n Wolkat<\/strong><\/p>\n Wolkat, a Dutch-funded company, has been active in the field of circular textile recycling for over 25 years. It processes exclusively post-consumer textiles sourced from across Europe. Wolkat is one of the pioneers in the field of sustainable recycling processes. The company operates a fully integrated production chain, from collection and sorting to manufacturing. The finished product consists of 85% recycled material.<\/p>\n Codersa<\/strong><\/p>\n The family-owned company Codersa impressed with its clear structure and modern facilities. Particularly noteworthy is the company\u2019s in-house training workshop, where both theory and practice are taught. MB Confession<\/strong><\/p>\n MB Confec\u00e7ions SARL, headquartered in the Tangier Free Trade Zone, was founded with a clear mission: to promote fair, transparent, and sustainable production conditions in the fashion industry. With approximately 500 employees and a production capacity of 300,000 pieces per month, MB Confec\u00e7ions is a high-performing partner for international brands. The company operates in a 4,500 m\u00b2 production facility and has 13 production lines. Delivery times range from two to eight weeks, depending on material availability, making MB Confec\u00e7ions exceptionally competitive on an international scale.<\/p>\n Its strategically advantageous location in the Tangier Free Zone provides quick access to the Tangier Med Port (Africa\u2019s largest port) and the nearby Ibn Batouta International Airport, ensuring particularly short transport routes and response times.<\/p>\n During the COVID-19 pandemic, MB Confec\u00e7ions impressively demonstrated its flexibility by producing up to 10,000 masks per day for the U.S. market on short notice. Amith<\/strong><\/p>\n The industry association Amith (Association Marocaine des Industries du Textile et de l\u2019Habillement), headquartered in Casablanca, represents approximately 400 companies. Apparel Mills<\/strong><\/p>\n The company Apparel Mills (www.apparelmills.com) uses pre- and post-consumer waste from its own production and collaborates with brands such as Inditex and Mango. Salsabile<\/strong><\/p>\n Salsabile is a versatile manufacturer with a high proportion of jersey and woven fabrics. Depending on the season, the company employs between 100 and 2,000 people and produces for international brands such as Primark, Betty Barclay, Inditex, and Desigual. Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n The sourcing trip to Morocco clearly demonstrated that the country offers great potential for the European textile and apparel industry. In addition to competitive production conditions, many manufacturers impress with their quality, flexibility, and increasingly sustainable approaches. Filmod places great emphasis on certifications and quality assurance. However, it also became clear during the discussions that communication between Moroccan and European partners can sometimes be challenging and that cultural differences in negotiating styles should be taken into account.<\/p>\n
The German-speaking managing director emphasized the desire to intensify cooperation with Germany again in the future. Current clients include Zara and Massimo Dutti.<\/p>\n
The company sees itself as an alternative to unregulated production facilities and is committed to ethical labor standards, equal opportunities, and the targeted development of local skilled workers.<\/p>\n
The product range extends from anoraks, blazers, and pants to blouses, T-shirts, and dresses, as well as workwear and swimwear. The focus is on women\u2019s apparel (60%), followed by children\u2019s (30%) and men\u2019s fashion (10%).<\/p>\n
Today, the company is looking to the future: A new, digitized production facility is set to open in 2026\u2014another step toward harmonizing technology, ethics, and efficiency.<\/p>\n
Amith invited the DTB delegation to a trade show in Casablanca in November and expressed great interest in closer cooperation with German partners. The goal is to expand international networks and promote sustainable supply chains.<\/p>\n
The recycling process is exclusively mechanical; currently, the company primarily processes white fibers, which are then further processed in Spain. The company serves as a model for transparent, circular production approaches in Morocco.<\/p>\n
With women\u2019s wear accounting for about 90% of its production and a flexible production structure, Salsabile stands for agility and adaptability. Pricing and sourcing are handled on a case-by-case basis and tailored to customer needs.<\/p>\n
Its proximity to Europe, shorter delivery times, and a growing network of certified producers make Morocco an attractive partner for the future.<\/p>\n
